This office in Bangalore has to process at least 1000's of applications in a day. I had to learn the trick needed to book an appointment online, but after that it was an easy process.
The office is clean and bright. Staff try their best to talk as little as possible (to conserve energy for dealing with hundreds of people everyday!). After initial document scanning and finger printing, government staff will then check your originals, and lastly your application will be sanctioned. There is no need to jockey or jostle for position in the queue because everything is computerised. Your token number will be flashed on the screen 2 min before it is your time to approach any counter.
I had to pull out my wallet a few times, but only to retrieve my voters ID card!
