I had gone to the Hebbagodi police station in Bangalore rural district with regards to police verification for passport renewal. The policeman there, Mr. Muniraju Swamy, was very courteous and printed out letters in Kannada, to be signed by my neighbors for reference. Once the letters were signed, the police report was forwarded to SP Office and I got my passport without further ado. I was pleasantly surprised as I had heard many tales of policemen expecting bribe for this simple citizen service. But Mr. Muniraju Swamy proved that dealing with a government official can be a pleasant experience. Kudos to him!
