A awful and scarry expirence with the government office, completely diturbed my peace of mind.

Reported on February 28, 2016 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #94114

The name of the officer was Prabavathi G, she is the inspector of LVO-35 in Jeevan Bheema Nagar, Bengaluru Karnataka. It was in the afternoon 16:30, where she was supposed to verify the documents provided by me to her for a new registration under the VAT law. The incident took place in the office premises. After verifying the documents which were in perfect order with out any discrepancies. Even though every thing was in the right order,( and I am not saying if it werent she has the right to take bribe) she was bold enough to ask for the bribe without any shame in her face. She not only demanded for a bribe from me but from every single person who had been there with one or the other line of work relating to commercial taxes. The whole atmosphere made me sick and left a bad emotional scar in my mind. Not only that she demanded bribe, she was upset and angry for not meeting up to her expectations, she shouted and screamed at me. I was laughed at by all the workers at that office for not being able to understand "how government office works" which made me feel very bad about. I was under a lot of emotional pressure to finish the job so I had to pay the price. The fact that even though i came back home from this incident, i have not been able to "let go" of it. I wonder how she looks her kids in the eye without her conscience constantly telling her about her wrongdoings, or how she is able to sleep peacefully even after taking peoples hard earned money. With in a span of an hour she easily made Rs.8000/- right in front of me. We could only imagine how much she could make each single working day at the office.
