Hi, I am a person who always flaunt that my father is an embodiment of honesty. That day, I went to the passport cell of the district collector office for applying my passport. The person who I need to ********** was somehow known to my father and also stays near our house. I did all my paper work and finally when I started to leave , that man told me to pay Rs. 550.00. He also mentioned that my father knows about the relevancy of the money being paid there. At once, I thought that will be an official expenditure and did not question him (As I know he knows my father). After paying the amount, he did not give me any receipt. At that point in time, I missed a blunder not by asking for that. I thought, as he is a known person and he has referred to my father, I just paid the money and came back.
When I asked about the money to my father, he was smiling at me. I asked him why? He told, I deliberately sent you to do the work on your own to see the ground reality. Then I relaised, I have paid a bribe, a first time in my 28yrs of life. That made me feel like an absolute fool and loser.
A man just looted me in the name of my father who I hail as an example of honesty. That was so disgusting.
I wonder if a tahshildar's son can pay bribe what would have happened to the countless faceless people. That really shook me up.
