I had to send a scooter from Trivandrum to Cherthala by train. The man who writes the number (consignment) on the packed vehicle demanded "irupathu **********" (Twenty Rupees) to write the number. And when we put the scooter on the break van, the Guard was asking "enthenkilum tharanam" (Give me something), like a beggar! Paid him Ten rupees and he was more than happy! That was the only instance I paid bribe.
