Amount required to get the khata certificate is Rs3000 , but the bribe I had to pay was Rs7000 more than the actual amount required to get the work done. If you go via a lawyer you need to shell an additional amount as lawyers fees :( . If bribe not payed then u don't and if u complain then the inspecting officer will screw up your life and you end up paying more than the bribe. At the end it looks like there is no escape from bribe. Why people take bribe even to do the work for which they get the salary for .
