Last year, in december, my car got hit by this public bus from behind. My driver was driving the car at a normal speed, when a bus on an attempt to overtake lost control and damaged the rear part of the car. I, to avoid any display of aggression on the road requested the driver to pay a very nominal amount of 10k for the loss he caused. After he refused to pay, i lodged a FIR to the police. They kept the car in custody. For more than a week, the car was right there and they wouldnot just work on the case. After being inquired, they asked for a grand for them to show interest in the case, and threatened that if not paid the car might stay in their custody for months and they wouldnot take any responsibility of theft of the car, to add on to it. Then we had to pay them, but we later found out the bus owner paid a heavy amount of bribe already and released his bus and the case was dismissed. We had to bear a repair loss of 1.6 Lakhs and even pay the cops a grand for asking them for help. Yes, i am overwhelmed.
