Bribe for not beating me

My wife had put a false case against me under Sec 498a and I was arrested. Since I had heard of police beating up in the lockup, I had to bribe them for not beating me. As soon as I gave them money, they were like friends to me and were then sympathetic with me. Till then I was a culprit for them.
