Generally according to Criminal procedure code, the chargesheet is provided by the court free of cost, but in a false case in which I was an accused (fact: implicated just because i used to complain against authorities and used to ask for information under RTI), the police firstly called me in the court and then demanded Rs. 2000 to file the chargesheet. Being a student of law myself, I knew that it was to be given to me free of cost. Firstly I denied paying them any money and then they said that they would not give me some important documents. I negotiated and paid Rs. 1000 because I was in need of the police investigation report to defend myself in the case and to know who appeared as false witness against me. As i paid less, they didn't attach many important documents to the file while getting my signatures in the court room.
There is corruption everywhere? Even in court, when we have to appear every month, the peon (or whatever u call him - who calls the accused people to appear before the magistrate for the next day) doesn't call unless you pay him Rs. 50/-. It is his duty and the duty of the court to make sure that everyone present there must be called. But during last visit, I didn't pay Rs. 50 and he didn't call me. Later at the near end of closing of court, he called me and rebuked me by saying that he called me 4 times and now the warrants for my arrest (for being absent) have been issued by the judge. I was afraid because when the warrants are issued, the bail already granted to the accused stands forfeited and he doesn't get bail again before 3 months.
So guys, we have to pay - no matter what you say or what rules say. Everyone is corrupt. We can't stop it. If u alone try to stop it, u will face the same fate. Don't complain against authorities. Now i have also got the answer as to why the people like Kasab and naxals exist - what are the causes that force people to join such outfits. When own people deject you, others will definitely lend a helping hand and unfortunately or fortunately, as a matter of compulsion u are bound to accept their helping hand.
