For thepurpose of passport verification i had to pay a bribe. inspite of 3 weeks passing and not getting a call for the verification, i landed at my area police station and enquired. found that my papers were already received but not yet notified to me. after 2-3 rounds to bring one document or the other, i was called on a saturday evening along with many others to the station to submit my file to the superior and personal verification. The officer collecting the document sat under a " do not pay bribes" board and demanded a bribe of rs 500. i looked up at the board an he followed my eyes to the same, smiled and made the demand terming that i was being charged very less and reasonably.
