Bribe for Police's Mistake

I applied for my wife's passport and Police had done the verification at my home and had taken some 300 bucks for completing the process. Since that time we were newly married and my wife was not staying to my home for more then 1 year hence police put a comment that verification for other police station it pending. My home and my wife's home belongs to the same Police station, even though they knew that since both the addresses were mentioned in the form but still they made such comments on passport form and put the passport process on hold. When i inquired then got to know the situation and requested to correct their mistake then they asked for Rs. 300 to made the correction.
It was very frustrating and time consuming task since it took 3 days to contact and get the work done from them.
