That day when the passport officials came home for address verification i was out of station.so the person informed my mom that i should personally visit the passport office the next day. the next day when i went there he entered my address in a form. i'd clearly written in my application my door no. as 18. but he purposefully entered it as 12 in the new form. i told him to correct it. he said that he could write only what was written in my application.he changed it only when my father bribed him 200rs. and nowadays here even postmen are demanding a bribe ranging from 20 to 50 rs for delivering the passport.the justification they give is that in the process of getting a passport we "satisfy" everyone from passport office to policemen and only they are left.so they feel it's not "morally correct" on our part to refuse to bribe them.
