The Revenue Inspector demanded Rs.2000 for registering name in the B khatha register. He said he cannot give khatha without the bribe. I know the options of RTI and lokayukta. But it will take several months and I have to fight at every level of the department to get a simple document called khatha. If I report it lokayukta, my file will be lost permanently. B katha is issued to the properties which are not approved by Bangalore development authority, but were included later in the municipality. When they were formed the local body ad provided the approval, but now we are forced to get a new khatha from BBMP. The government has made it mandatory to provide khatha for property registration and this has made corruption florish. Government officials and politicians know how to make make money form people.
