Bribe for registration of house to my sister's name

Reported on March 18, 2011 from Coimbatore , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #25834

On the said **********, I had to visit to the Sulur Registrar's office to transfer the house, which was on my name, to my sister.

As known to all of us Indians, the registrar's office was a haunted place surrounded by brokers and stamp dealers, to whom our public, including my relative who arranged the registration, were buttering to get their task completed on priority.

The broker whom we approached straight away asked the bribe of INR 8K for giving to various levels of people. It seemed like a SOP. I could count an average of 50 registrations taking place an hour. At this rate, the bribe amount in the small office would easily exceed INR 10 Lakhs per day.

What I would like to point out is the casual approach of our people towards bribing. We are selfish to complete our task on priority so we bribe.

I intend to change this hereafter by not paying any bribe.
