We have store of gift articles in the city of Bangalore and we are doing decent business. on 6th dec legal metrology inspectors walked into my store and started observing our store he told that they are legal metrology and have to check the store any illegal imports.Since we sell branded products we were confident of all the rules followed we said o. So they started checking and started asking irrelevant questions like how much profits do you make , how much sales you do,owners should have a friendly relation with them. Then when they did not found any item they picked 2 demo toys kept for customers and said nothing should be out of cover in the shop and issued a notice stating that store has not followed the rule of pasting the details of importer on 2 products and then told me ask your manager to call us on this no. and settle the matter else have to go to court and fight case.
Then my manager spoke to them and we were asked to come to this office of Legal Metrology on 1st floor Minerva Circle , J.C.Road. The told that we have not followed some law so we have to pay a fine of Rs 20,000 for two products else they will file a case. we tried to argue with one inspector then directly he said they can do anything even if we are 100% perfect they can find something so settle the matter and go. Then we have negotiate on the bribe which were succesful in convincing them for Rs 10000 + both those products as gift to them worth Rs 2000. This transaction happened in a small hotel down on the road.
I felt very sad even after following all the rules we have to pay a bribe then I felt like better don't follow the rules.
But my Manager said don't worry this is regular for them every 6 months they come. its a routine....I felt going and beating for making country bad.
Since you told I did not wrote names but please give the address of this office to raid at the office and remove them from there jobs.
