Bribe for school leaving certificate
- Education
- Transfer Certificate
- Paid INR 1,000
I am in London and UK Citizen. I wanted to apply for OCI - Origin Indian Citizen. Therefore, I do not need Visa for India. For this, I need copy of my school-leaving certificate. However, as I not able to find it I went to my school in India, requested one, and was ready to pay fees for a duplicate school-leaving certificate. However, after three trips, I was made to wait and asked to comeback later and all silly excuse. I did not get the message that the clerk needs the bribe to get this done. On the fourth visit the peon bluntly told me 'Saab to da-do Rs. 2000/3000' 'Ho ja ya ga'. When I asked to head teacher and the clerk, they said that they will not take, but I can give it to the 'Peon' as it is hard work for him. On top of this, I must pay the standard fee. I paid the bribe, as I have no other option. In addition, I know that all the school staff from the Head Master, clerk, and Peon was involved in this corruption. I always say from my experience - ' Maro desh chor cha'. How true. I have 10's of these incidents to tell.
