I was in urgent need for my passport as I had to go abroad for work purpose and it seemed like my application wasn't being processed because of a computer error. I bribed an official through an agent and received my passport within a week.

The passport seva kendras have automated the passport application process and co-ordinate with the local police for background checks. In my case, they wrongly sent the background check request to a different police zone(I live in Hyderabad, which has two police zones) and was stalled for almost two months.
