Building tax (Lexury tax)

Reported on November 30, 2010 from Malappuram , Kerala  ι Report #29665

My house is below 2000sqr feet, but we got a report from the village office that our house has morethan 3000sqr feet and has to pay nearly 10000rupees for the last 5 years plus interesr, otherwise they will acquire our home for this money. My father was out of the country and I went to the village office, the village officer told me the story that our home is above the tax limit but actually it is below, But, the village officer told me that, he can clear it but Have to pay 1000 rupees, then I have to go to the taluk office to ********** tahasildar, he will clear the problem. Due to my father's compeltion I paid 1000Rs, and I went to tahasildar (Tirurangadi) with all the documents, but he want 6000 Rupees (he knew that the amount I paid in village office, village officer informed the matter to tahasildar, they all know everything), I refused to pay the amount, but my father told me to pay half of the amount 3000Rs, he did not agree with it I have given it,an dhe told me to bring the baance amoutn another day. I went home and my father compelled me to pay tha balance amoutn to solve the matter . then I again went to ********** the tahasildar and I asked him whehter he can solve the problem permanently (in future) if I pay the balance amount, but he replied no. So, I refused to pay and I asked the paid 3000 back, but he did not given me that amount, I lost that money and I shouted to the tahasildar and came out. This probelm was not solved yet, we are still paying the lexury tax even when our home is not in the tax limit, there are many large homes without paying this tax in our village. When my fatehr came to my home, he scolded me alot and still he is compalining about my rejection to pay the bribe.
