Change of Property ID (PID)

I have been paying property tax regularly for the past so many years. However when I wanted to pay it online I noticed that the name of the owner being shown for my PID was different. Later when I contacted the BBMP officials I was told that my PID needs to be changed since all this while I was paying property tax against some other PID. I had to pay a bribe of Rs 2500 to get this corrected.
