Clearance of cargo from the gulf brought on TR basis

• Paid INR 20,000

I had brought in a consignment of my personal belongings of about 15 cbm. I was returning on TR after a 10 year stay in the gulf. The custom officer after inspecting the goods demanded that i pay an amount of 80000 towards custom duty. Though all of it was within the allowable limits. He then proposed to release the goods if i could pay him an amount that i thought was feasible. After a lot of negotiation we agreed on 20000, for which he said the receipt would be sent to us. we were made to sign on unfilled forms and provide attested passport copies. To this day, sad to say, we have not received any receipt or acknowledgement.
