I own a business in Chennai. The annual refund for last year was 1 cr (I had to invest every single rupee back into the business to sustain it) but to secure the refund, I had to commit 10% or 10 Lakhs. I go through an accountant who has "contacts" with the IT department. The entire process is a blackbox & I have no idea, with whom the accountant is communicating in the IT dept. I wish I could deal directly with the IT department & not go through these steps to secure my tax refund. Even though, my taxes are applied online, the IT department will process my refunds only after securing the bribe amount.
