We wanted to change our 2 phase meter to a three phase meter. In addition the name of the owner was to be changed from from late motherinlaw to my husbands name. There was a spelling mistake in the original last name and had to be altered. In spite of having all paper work like society letter, death certificate, and also we changed the wiring as per the BEST specifications we had to pay a bribe of 18000/- rupees to change the meter and change the name. We are not the only ones our neighbour who bought his apartment one year back and got the flat transferred on his name with all paperwork in place had to also pay 18000/- rupees which seems to be a fixed bribe rate for the BEST officials. I donot recall the exact sate but tjis is somewhere around 6 months back. I have the details of the person and his phone no incase something can be done about it.
