Corruption in Health Department

Reported on March 3, 2015 from Nanded , Maharashtra  ι Report #53131

We are a group of doctors working in a government hospital since approximately past two years.

Our problem is we are supposed to work all the year around without break on pretext of emergency nature of our job and at the same time our fellow doctors can be seen doing private practice without actually working in our government hospital

This system is prevalent in all parts of our district

One of our co doctors has being deputed to other hospital so as to help him and allow him to work in his private lab.

This doctor owns a couple of labs in our city and can be seen doing only private practice without actually working in government hospital but still draws salary in thousands.

This corrupt practice of allowing some doctors to work in their private hospital is due to a system of cut/bribe which the practicing doctor pays to the office head which is usually 15- 20 percent of monthly gross salary and is usually between 15-20 thousand rupees per month.

By paying the said amount to our boss one can be sure that one does not have to work in our hospital and is allowed to do private practice without any problem.

This type of corruption is very much prevalent in all government run hospitals.

Corruption in health system is having so deeper roots that complaining to the seniors officials regarding this behavior is like inviting harm on oneself.

We had complained to Maharashtra government officials at least ten times regarding this type of monthly bribe collection by seniors but now it seems for sure that they also get a slice from this corruption and no one is interested in stopping this.

In fact last year we had to pay our boss a handsome amount to get our monthly salary to be released on time and we had reported this on ipaidabribe.
