I bought the camera from US 5yrs ago. I took it to Australia and no one told me about Export certificate. Australia Customs did not charge me anything. Today when I came to India for a visit, Customs in India asked me to pay duty for my old camera. He calculated with the cost of buying and added interest to it. That came around 11000. When I was trying to talk he was increasing the cost and is saying that he has to calculate with the current cost of the camera, remove 10% depreciation and came up to 14000. In his sense he is doing a favor to me by saying 11000. I was not carrying any cash, neither I had any debit cards. I asked for an option and says pay 50% and go away. I said I only have $100 (AUD), he took me inside and took that currency and asked me to go away soon. RIDICULOUS. Whom to complain there, he was saying he has to pay everyone there. What else I can do after travelling 23h, tired, hungry, sleepy (early 1 30 am), I wanted to reach home and that is the only option. He took my Camera and would leave me only after I pay.
His name is SUBBA RAO (Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi international airport, Customs department)
