Property used for commercial purposes having tax liability of around Rs70000/- annualy was assessed for close to Rs.3lakhs.Petition given was processed by one inspector who found fault with additions made to the property over 40 years ago as without permit and hence illegal and liable for demolition.as property is inherited the relevant permits are lost/not traceable.The authorities could have checked their records but why should they?Was dlly-dallying and asking me to "settle" the issue.The settlement was for Rs.15000 paid to the inspector.He settled the property tax for Rs.1.7lakhs.Paid the amount by cheque and got out of his bloody office.
