Express bribe on Shatabdi Express

Reported on November 20, 2012 from Chandigarh , Chandigarh  ι Report #514

I had booked an online ticket for Chandigarh-Delhi Shatabdi but could only get onto the wait list. My ticket was not confirmed and technically, I could not board the train. Nevertheless, I boarded the train and told the ticket checker that I am on waitlist. He told me there is no seat (when there were plenty of seats). Finally, after trying to convince him that I really had to go, he said I should ********** him in the section between two boxes in 5 minutes. I got there and he said, "Look, a new ticket bought while on board is Rs. 1000. But you have already bought the ticket for Rs. 500 online. You will get a refund of that money because your ticket was not confirmed. You just pay me Rs. 500 and I will get you a seat." That was my first time paying bribe in India and was surprised how the system made bribe receiving and giving so lucrative, simple, and convenient!
