Extortion of money by Municipal workers

Location: Marwadi street in Kuruchikuppam, Pondicherry.
Date: Fri-17th Oct 2014
As there was a block in the sewage line on the main road, I filed a request for the sewage line to be cleaned at the PWD office in Bussy street, Pondicherry.
I got a call around 11:30am asking about our location and then by 12 noon there were 5 men who came to our street in a sewage cleaning lorry. They opened the main drainage line on the road and cleaned it as there was a block. Their work lasted around 45 mins.
Once the work was over they stood at the front door demanding money. I reluctantly gave 300Rs but one of the men reacted reacted sharply and refused to accept the money as it was too "small" an amount for them. He started saying there are 5 of them and each one has to share etc... When I refused to give him any more money he then said something... "Remember that these drains can get blocked in the future and that time you will have to come to us again..."
I request the concerned authorities to take action against such people who are extorting money and threatening people.
