Fleecing returning NRIs

• Customs, Excise and Service Tax
• Customs Check and Clearance
• Paid INR 2,000

When on recent clearing of Import of Personal items from cargo, Officer valued duty to be paid @35000. & If i pay 2000, then duty comes down to 5000. Why not any clear cut rules for personal effects for poor returning indians. Do we have a choice? How can we afford 35000 for old clothes, foodstuff, old tv, old stove? This is robbing your own people.
