I applied passport for my younger brother in the month July 2010. Police inquiry was cleared with their usual prasaad of Rs. 500 in the month of September 2010. I thought we may be getting the passport in 1-2 months but when nothing happened ,my brother went to passport office. There he met a grumpy old lady who rejected his appeal stating that due to Commonwealth Games the process has been delayed and he will get it in 1 month. Again after wait of 1 month he went to inquire to find some annoyed passport officer with the same reply. I tried complaning to RPO but nothing happened. I had put 4-5 reminders too. Then I posted a request to Grievance cell.. there too nothing happened. Atlast I filed RTI in December 2010. I also approached an agent who has an office in same complex to check the application only to find the official is waiting for me to offer bribe. He told me that passport applied under File group A is with Sharks..So I approached another agent who told me that they have misplaced my police report which can be intentional as I had filed RTI too.. I approached the officer who cleared my report. He said that he can send a copy of the report. I kept on following it.. Ultimately I had to pay Bribe to get Authentic and legal document which is rightfully mine..What could I have done after waiting for 6 months? I straight away paid the bribe upfront for my daughter. I got her passport in 5 days!!
