This report is about a bribe which I did not pay but they took it in name of services.
In the city of Punjab named Mohali, I went to tehsil to to get General power of attorney signed.
I bought stamp papers got it ready in which I appointed my father as guardian and the fees that was told to me was 2300 INR not 2000 INR which is the actual fees.
How this happened I needed a witness on my papers and that witness has to be advocate so the person who sold me stamp papers also organised this witness and witness charged me 500 INR which is fair but this witness and officials tell clients fees more than it is actually by law.
They tale all monies upfront and this advocate witness takes all the papers and present it to tehsildar and asked me to wait outside and he will bring the papers outside.
They give receipts which are for only 2000 INR and when I asked why you took 2300 INR and his reply was the computer person keeps it . To get the papers done same day you have to pay some extra money when I was in no hurry to have my papers signed same day.
Out of 800 bribe 300 they took by giving wrong information and the witness took 500 INR by saying the officials would not sign the papers without taking any extra money.
The department which deals with real estate in Punjab is the most corrupt department and common man has no say.
