I was planning to come to USA for my higher studies. I had to get my address verified by the local police station and report was to be sent back to Passport office. I went there not having any idea about what will happen. I started talking with the officers there. They were nice to me and verified everything. They even got my neighbors' address and name for reference. I thought my work is done but the officers were not doing any signing procedure. They were talking with me may be just giving me indirect signals about bribe but I didn't understand. My dad came there from job when he came to know that I am in station. He just came and sat there. I started giving 200 rupees to each of the officers while shaking hands with them. There were 2 of them. We both were out of the station in 10 minutes. Then only I came to know that they were waiting for me give them some bribe before they sign and handover my documents to Passport office.
