Had to bribe police to clear my passport verification

I was employed in Trivandrum when police came to my house for passport verification to my house. The officer wanted to ********** me in person. I traveled overnight to my hometown and went to the local police station for verification. One meeting the officer, he said that there are expenses on his side for verification and asked me to keep the money in a notebook which he had on his table.
