Had to pay brib to get my personal affects.

My am an NRI and a typical “bakkra “ for Custom Officers. I sent some unaccompanied personal affects including a carpet to Mumbai and when I went to collect it from Mumbai International Cargo collection centre my affects were put on the floor and each item was itemised and charged. I was told to pay 28,000 Rs/- for the carpet. I told the officer I will cut the carpet and not pay for it. Even a milk power tin I had to pay 500 Rs/-
After much discussion I was told that everything would come to 20,000. I denied paying. Finally they agreed for 2,000/- Which I paid. However on the Government declaration form they only wrote 350/-.
Another Incident was I had to collect another parcel from Customs at Ballard Pier Postal collection. This was about 2003 or so. The officer, told me to pay 2,000 Rs/- and keep in the drawer next to him.
