Iam an NRI & recently I came to know the tenant who was taking care of my small plot in ECR chennai was carrying out brothel activities & othe business and had to vacate them. The problem started there the lady who is conducting all this stated unless I pay two lacs rupees she would not vacate. I know how long a legal process would take in India as my Dad himself undergoing such cases with various other tenents and losing his precious old age and undergoing lots of difficulties. The local dada's and police were working in cunnivance with the lady and I had no other go other than paying 1.2lacs to get her out of the place. It is unfortunate that educated hardworking people like me have to stoop to such level as any other legal means could eat half our life and lead to lots of mental tension. Why there can't be a proper legal system to tenancy which protects both the tenant's and owners interest.
