Hats off to our corrupted "NAVI MUMBAI POLICE" because of which i m mentally harassed.
I Ajay resident of Navi mumbai and a helpless poor Indian citizen was forced to bribe a police constable because I hugged my friend at the Railway Station premises only because I hugged a girl in a public place.
This incident had taken place on Saturday 4th Oct, 2014 by 17.30hrs at Ghansoli Railway Station, Navi mumbai. The name of the constable was Mr. Pawar aged between 23-25, i guess he was a new constable by seeing to his shoulder belt i can make it up.
Me and my friend was sitting at Ghansoli Railway Station after our office, so before living from there I just hugged her which that constable Pawar saw, he took us to a small room in the premises of the station at platform No. 1, he took us stating that his senior officer is calling us to scold for whatever we were doing. I said yes lets go coz i knew i had not done anything wrong. Then the first question asked by that illiterate constable PAWAR was "are you a maharashtrian", how does it matters to him that if i m a maharashtrian or a non-maharashtrian, as i told no his tone suddenly changed, he started using abusive language, only because i was a not of that state he started abusing me. Am i not a Indian citizen who has the right to live in any state. And the thing is that i m a non maharashtrian but i have been born and brought up here.
After reaching to that room, so called police station by that constable, i saw that none of his senior officers are there he just fooled us and took us there. By seeing that i told my friend to leave as it was getting late it was already 18.00 hrs, and at that time that Constable told her not to go, i say how can a male constable say to girl to stay in a room where he had taken that to after 6pm without any complain getting registered against us. Because of that i had a long argument with him and anyhow i was able to send her from that place.
After she left that place he threatened me that i have done a big mistake by sending her from there and he added that his senior is on the way and will be calling her for investigation. I told him I'll manage myself once your senior comes. For this he got more angry and started telling to me that dont show your attitude and also told if I want to leave i have to pay a fine of Rs 1200/- which i clearly refused to give, why should i pay Rs 1200/- without doing any crime, it is about 10% of my salary. Then there was a argument for about 15-20mins. After that he left that room by locking me inside and went somewhere. By then it was 18.30hrs and in an about 5min he came back with 2 more persons, i dont know what they did, but i knew that constable might have told the same thing that his senior is calling and brought them there. As from that persons looks and voice accent i can make it up that he was a north Indian, so was the constable pawar was able to make it up. He told them by looking at me that i m also in for the same crime and i'll be sent to jail as i m not paying the bribe so called fine by him of Rs 1200/-. And also was that constable was addressing that poor guy by telling him a 'bhaiya' in an abusive tone. By all this they got frighten.
And the constable was telling them to pay a fine of Rs 3000/- to them. Here after the bargaining started, i got shocked by seeing that, that constable was collecting fine or he was selling fish. What it was, I was not at all understanding what all was going on. After all this I came to know that the corrupted constable was asking for bribe from them. Any how the 2person and the constable argument lasted for 15-20min and the person was able to bargain from Rs 3000/- to Rs 2400/-.
And after giving that amount they both was asked to leave by that constable. And without filing any complain or registering FIR the constable was able to collect Rs 2400/- and i m sure it is going to his pocket. After they left he told me that he is getting late so pay the fine or he will send me to jail. As i was not having cash with me, I called my uncle, he came in about 20min and was having a word with the constable. At that point of time i was been told to stand aside. And my uncle was more successful than the two person to bargain with the constable. The constable took Rs 200/- bribe so called fine to leave me.
Its not a case that i lost my Rs 200/- bucks, I can think that i have given to a beggar, but the point is a normal constable whose salary is 10-15k can earn 2-3k in 3-4hrs by just taking bribe, can you all imagine how much he is earning by just taking bribe. Constable Pawar is not the only one i know there would be many more, he would have learnt from his seniors. Because i know it is not only his fault, it is the fault of the total system which they follow. If a normal constable has a guts to taken so much bribe, can you all imagine that how much his seniors like sub-inspectors, inspectors etc will be earning by just taking bribe.
Instead of feeling protected by seeing a police, now i feel like i m seeing a thief or even worst.
Totally disappoint with this mental harassment. Now by this i came to know to survive as a common man we have to be bribing in all cases where it is been asked. Highly disappointed by this. Ashamed of you all corrupted once who called them as a police.
