Helpless

Reported on August 23, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #30939

((PLEASE NOTE- there is no traffic police,or simply -police department(home to corruption) options in the department selection, so i selected others and typed traffic police and typed Jumping signal as transaction, but its not accepting.. so im giving a different department and transaction))

this incident took place near Kamanahalli signal..
i had a green signal to take left..
and so i took the left turn.. two traffic police, standing 100 meters away from the signal stopped me. first i was surprised, later was shocked when he told me the reason..

he said that i jumped the signal.
i told him very clearly that the signal was green,
so he changed his tone, threatened me and said that the signal was about to turn red, so you had to stop.
he said either pay 100 and go, else pay Rs 800, get the video proof (from the camera over the signal) from the police station.
i was still adamant and argued, and now both started justifying the illogical reason they sighted. i was helpless because i knew i could have given 800 and come out clean, but i know for a fact that these people(any one in Public service department) were very dangerous, they can file any fake case against me and lock me up. it was humiliating. not just this, while talking to me, they stopped an auto and without saying anything, simply demanded 100 Rs. he paid it and left, and i was still standing there. In a pitiable condition i had to pay him Rs 100. Though he gave me a ticket from his Blackberry, but still dey knew that i was innocent. i wanted to note down his name, but his name was written in kannada, then i turned to his vehicle registration number, and that too was written in kannada. and since i didnt know how to read kannade, i had to leave that place in vain.

i always thought of helping the poor traffic policemen(by providing them better air filter masks etc when i'd get a job)at signals trying to ease the flow of vehicles, but after todays experience, i gained an aversion towards them..

I helplessly PAID A BRIBE..
and I HATE BANGALORE TRAFFIC POLICE..

i also have many of my friends experience to share, but its an endless rope of corruption.. i know for a fact that nothing is going to happen, but atleast i can hope that im wrong this time..
