I am working abroad and came home to India for the birth of my 1st child early December 2010. Since I had to apply for my child's passport I had to get the birth certificate issued from the municipality in original. It took me 2 days running from pillar to post to apply for the certificate. Then finally I had to pay Rs. 500 for the birth certificate which normally cost's Rs. 20 and it was issued to me the next day. Even that had corrections to be made. But I somehow managed to have the birth certificate along with other documents submitted at the Zonal passport Office. I'm not sure if the passport will also be issued without paying the bribe. Since I'm out of the country. It's been almost a month whereas normally for an infant police inquiry is not required. I'm not even sure if the delivery man will ask for a bribe before handing over the passport. Corruption is ********** rooted in every sphere of life especially in India or probably I might be the only one facing it.
