Reported on October 21, 2013 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #36891

As the water connection from the Metro water is no-existent to my home, which is under litigation and in the name of my family trust, for the past several years I have had problems with power, renewal of meter, non-existent sewerage and of course during the recent drought absolutely no water from tankers who we have been depending on for years now.
The initial cost was only Rs.400 from the Metro station which is half a kilometer from my home. Water should actually be gushing into my home as the storage towers are just less than a kilometer away. But we have to buy from tankers as we have no way to make complaints with the case for the property in the HIgh Court for the past 3 years.
Before that also we did not have the right authority as the trust who is contesting our home property held all the papers taken from my father when he was alive. I was unable to come to the city at that time due to work elsewhere.
It began by going up to Rs 500 almost immediately, we had to call the tankers as calling the Metro water dump only resulted in vague answers as to when water will be available. Many days wait mostly. So we had to keep paying the tanker drivers to keep getting water to drink and bathe, absolutely essential for life. I do not pay taxes now as I am retired and am looked after by my children who all pay their taxes, their taxes are deducted from source and they pay any excess required later. My daughter even got a tax refund recently.
But we don't get water and the sewage is permanently blocked. What can we do other than pay for water if no water comes in the pipes and the tankers are all booked. Desperation is what made us do it. 1200 Rs every 8 to 10 days with careful usage. That is 6000 litres or less at a time.
