I paid a bribe to get a work visa
- Bureau of Immigration
- Employment Visa
- Paid INR 500
I'm actually an american who came to India to work for Infosys. Infosys messed up my work visa and told me to go to the Bangalore Court house to fix it. A HR person came with me and told me that I'll have to pay a 500 rupees "service fee," which I was ok with at the time because I thought thats how things are. However, the judge person came out of the court house and signed some paper work on his bike. I was in complete shock because it looked completely shady to me. Then the HR person nudge me on the side and told me I should pay my "service fee" to this judge looking guy. I gave him money and then I asked the HR if the company would pay me back for it. He said no.. Infosys doesn't pay for "service fees," which confirmed to me that on the first week in India I just paid a Bribe to fix my company mistake. It also explains why I didn't stay in Infosys very long either because I was exploited all the time because they assume I was a foreigner with Infosys would be making the big bucks. I feel sorry for the kind decent people who work in India all there lives and having to deal with this on a regular basis.
