I wish i could Register my property online

Reported on July 28, 2012 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #1191

We were in the Registration office, NR colony, , my sister was purchasing a site in Uttarahalli (BDA property). the Document Writer after getting the sale deed typed, he asked us 10000rs has bribe to be paid to the sub-register, when i refused he told me that if i did not pay, the Sub-Registrar has powers to deny registration and might ask for spot inspection and the issue can turn ugly. The seller was a very busy person and he had to fly from delhi to bangalore for the registration, if i messed up with the sub-registrar i feared the sub-registrar might employ delay tactics, and might ask us to comeback some other day , thus putting the seller in a uncomfortable position. In spite of having all the relevant documents i had to agree to pay the bribe, i negotiated to pay 7000rs. I got the property registered.
It is very clear that there is a nexus between the document writers sitting outside the Sub-registrar Office and the Sub registrar. I was told that at the end of the day the document writers deliver the money directly to Sub-registrar's home , or hand it over to some person employed by the sub registrar specifically for this purpose.
I hope the E-governance department in Karnataka acts fast and make registration happen on-line.
