The image we Indians carry outside India is miserable

Reported on July 5, 2013 from New Delhi , Delhi  ι Report #34826

Indian customs are notorious for this just as their colleagues in other government offices. I had to pay Rs.2000/ for a smart TV a year ago and passage was smooth. No headache. We have to be ashamed of the system that we have voted to be there. World over corruption exists in varying degrees. Human greed is the culprit. Transparency of governance can help to an extent. We, the educated class, dont go out and vote, we only talk on twitter, facebook or google. Election results are determined by who has spent more on illicit little gratifications doled out during voting. Added to this, under multi-party system, a party with less than 25% votes can also govern the country!!!, UNFORTUNATE.

The latest is government departments engage a front office guy, preferably a reserved class, as a temporary worker who handles all the dirty work, so that the officials are in the clean, even if you attempt to record and create a proof.

With increasing population and existing multi-party system, I have absolutely no hopes. We are a dirty lot without a sense of cleanliness and civic decency. In spite of being one of the largest democracies in the world, the image we Indians carry outside India is miserable, to say the least.
