I had my passport dispatched last month by the Passport office. It was a renewal of passport, so this time Police wasn't in the picture as the Police verification was not required. When I had my passport first time I had paid Rs.151/- to Policeman at Ghatlodiya Police Station. But, this time I was out of station when my passport was sent by Ahmedabad Passport Office through speedpost. The passport envelop had clearly stated that either my father or I can receive the passport. The postman called my father and told him that I need to be present to get the passport else he will send it back to the passport office. As I was in Hyderabad busy with my work, it wasn't possible for me to collect the passport in Ahmedabad. I asked the postman by calling him if my father can receive passport on my behalf. He denied. Then I asked him to settle the matter. He told me to pay Rs.300/- if I want my passport. My mom went to the post office, the postman was out at that time. Then the postman came at my home, collected Rs.200/- in cash and gave the passport to my mom.
