I was stopped at the domestic airport exit stating that my car number plate is illegal in the sense that instead of XXXX in the numbers area it had only 3 digits. I tried to argue stating that a 4 digit number starting with 0 (zero) and followed by 3 other digits is the same as the 3 digit non-zero number to which they agreed somehow but refused to let me go pointing to the fact that the RC showed a left-most 0 [zero] followed by 3 digits. I was confused as this was a second hand car and I was not sure if the RC is to be followed to the tee. Cutting a long story short, the cops refused to give any receipt and finally wished me a happy evening after I negotiated an amount of 100/-. Also to lighten the situation they made a parting remark that had they understood that much of logic [my line of argument] they would have become IPS officers themselves and not go after cars as they are doing now!!
