Bribery has become an institution in India. I firmly believe that the officials are not bothered about what happens in the MMRDA ground, just a few KMs away from the Sub-registrar's office in Mumbai at BKC.

I have been going there for the last 4 years and I pay a bribe every time. The guy sitting there, someone with one eye, has jut one job - to deal with brokers.

People are forced to go throught brokers, otherwise they wont do the job, one will have to wait for days, with uncertainity of the services to be rendered, papers will be lost. This type of threat is credible, as against the threat that our anti-corruption movement poses for poiliticians, incredible.

The guy sits in this office, does nothing, brokers do all the formalities and deal with the officials.
