I had opted for getting a new passpot made and I had to pay 1000 to the checking officers who had come to verify the details. I have been living in Delhi since childhood and he told us that if I didnt pay him the money then he'll first have to send a file for verification to my dad's birth place in Jamshedpur which may take months to get back and then he can easily delay the entire process!
Then i paid to the policemen who had come for the verification despite the claim which the verifying officer had made stating that after paying them 1000 we dont hv to pay anyone.
So in nutshell we ended up paying 1800.
