Jumped a traffic light, 200 bucks sorts the matter

Reported on June 4, 2012 from New Delhi , Delhi  ι Report #1670

I jumped a traffic light on a road with sparse traffic (it was Sunday morning). I thought I will cross on yellow or few seconds past red as the road was empty. But it was already red by the time I crossed. To my disdain, the traffic cops who were strategically positioned, signaled me to pull aside. I willingly obliged. The cop took my license and I was asked to show my car's documents. I was not carrying insurance papers at that time. The cop asked if I had 600 rupees which was the penalty. I was short of cash. So, he asked me to pay 200. While taking the money, he asked if I knew what was the violation. I said yes. He asked me to be careful next time.
