I am a tenant who is renting a house in Malad, Mumbai. The owner’s property dealer asked me that me and owner has to pay 2,500 INR each for registration of the agreement.
I was fine with it till the day I landed in registrar office which is at Goregaon, telephone exchange building. It was a working day for myself and owner, both wanted to finish up so that we can reach office and been a rainy day in Mumbai is an added obstacle back on the mind.
Property dealer’s representative (named Sahil) was at the office premise. As soon as we reached he kept on asking for signing some papers and was doing things in hurry. While I was signing I asked him that I was been told to get Rs. 2,500 and would like to know the beak-up, he said Mr. Property Dealer has the details. So, I went through all the procedure as was instructed by owner and Sahil. While going through the whole process Sahil came across somebody who is working there.
Today, when I called the property dealer he said that he gave me break-up with some number saying that it is a bribe. I told him that I am against bribe, he said that this happens every day so asked me to take it as service charges.
I felt so sad about this. Currently, I have water in my eyes while writing this. My India has gone to worst and keeps on going down. We have truly raped our independence. We still haven’t learnt from recent disaster of Uttrakand. I wish LORD please give me power to change all this.
