Technically I did not pay the bribe. We had a difference of opinion as some elder members of my family who were visiting us at the time of verification insisted on it being paid. I made it clear in front of the LIU officer, Sunil Kumar, and the members of my family who were present that I refuse to pay "bribe". But sadly, as our arguments began to heat up, my grandfather and my father insisted on paying. And pay they did. I guess patriarchy as well as corruption won.
