I am an Indian citizen who lives in USA and I was in India for my marriage for a month and had no time to spare since my wife and myself's visa appointment was in a week. We got married on 16th and on 18th we had to be in the concerned office to get our marriage registered. It was important to get the certificate because it was needed in the visa appointment one week later and my wife's visa had been rejected twice already. Officers responsible to get me the certificate were rude and said there was no availability for 3 months. After waiting the whole day at the office we ended up getting the work done after paying Rs. 10000. The officers were smart and as a condition they had me sign a paper that no money exchanged hands.
