I was in the 2nd year of law. I went with my dad to get a license for a two wheeler. When I went to the licensing issuing office, my father was informed by one of the agents there that they could give us a permamnant license, for both two wheeler and a four wheeler upon payment of a certain sum of money. I refused. But, my dad insisted that we go with it as by not adhering to the method, we'd only be harassed with all sorts of technical questions and what not during the test and that 'chakkar kaatne padenge'. I was furious that I had no say but I felt like I had no option and I was okay with taking the easy way out.
I didn't know how to drive a car. I never even sat on the driver's seat until that day. And, I had a permanant driving license for a four wheeler.
That's my story. Of my first bribe payment encounter.
